The Lodge EC7D43 comes with two enamel coats. The first layer is composed of a black matte finish. The second has a colorful enameled exterior, while its inside comes with a white enamel coating. The black line that you see on the rim is the initial black layer. You will not see an inch of cast iron on the majority of Lodge Dutch ovens, so it does not need any seasoning procedure.

Due to the impermeable enamel finish, the Dutch oven allows you to use it for marinating meats with liquids like wine or beer. You can also use it as a container for prepared ingredients or leftovers since it is safe for use in the fridge or freezer.
